McQueen Will Go On/Proenza Schouler Fall 2010 ETC

God save McQueen. The house that is Alexander McQueen will go on!

Every season I look forward to Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough's presentation for their label Proenza Schouler. Well, it wasn't quite the splash that their Spring collection made, but did not disappoint.

Their accessories grow stronger and hotter every season. These shoes are wild!
Looks like I darkened my hair just in time ... not only did the runway feature raven locks, the front row did as well. (Checkout Nicole Richie's dark transformation) Love the garnet stained lips and goth-like eyes.

Can't wait to see fan favorite Mdme Carine Roitfeld featuring this ensemble with a signature beast fur chubby and some 7" stilts.
Everything about this look is heaven. It screams take me to Bergdorf's, take me to Colette! Take me to lunch at Minetta Tavern. Bellinis at The Ritz.

Speaking of beat fur ... check out some of these looks from Joseph Altuzarra ...

Named pre-season as a designer to watch by multiple publications, I now see why. These designs are lovely, edgy and sophisticated. Just the right strike of black.

Bring on the Dancing Horses! Fashion Week: Part One

So, fashion week kicked off at the end of last week, and I don't mind saying that it has been underwhelming for me. Maybe it was the smog cast over opening day, due to untimely death of Alexander McQueen. Or perhaps it is due to the fact that most American Designers, in my opinion, are following the lead of the French set. With the exception of a very few, I keep seeing the influence of Stefano Pilati (YSL), Phoebe Philo (Celine), Alber Elbaz (Lanvin), Riccardo Tisci (Givenchy) and Nicholas Ghesquiere (Balenciaga). While I find genius in all of the French houses above, I certainly wish that the American designers would take a cue from their predecessors such as Calvin Klein, Halston and Perry Ellis -- designers who did American sportswear so well.

That being said, there have been a very few collections thus far that did perk my interest. Please find those that won my personal seal of approval below. Something about them tasted just a little bit sweeter!

Alexander Wang

Narcisco Rodriguez

Chris Benz

I particularly liked Marc Jacob's wistful collection of beautiful Seventies inspired, girlishness in that grunge style he does so well. Marc always sets the tone for Fashion Week. He always has his own voice. Sometimes it's hideous and mostly it's hideous lovely. This collection was no departure from his normally chic and effortless looks.

Here are some of my top picks from the Marc Jacobs show Monday, February 15.

Stay tuned for upcoming posts. After this week, it's on to London!

Bare with me here. I am technologically inept, but I will eventually figure all this out and figure out how to post pictures etc, with the help of my more tech-savvy friends.

So, apparently Katie Lee (Joel) is attempting to reap a profit on the townhouse that she shared with her jilted Rock-Star husband, Billy. Here Manhattan is a veritable graveyard of building shells. Architects aren’t working. Annie Leibovitz is in foreclosure. Prices have bottomed out, and this dame thinks she can flip this house. Is it possible that their marriage was nothing but a real estate transaction? Probably not, but as the market climbs and the resales begin, it’s a moment to indulge the fantasy of living in her lovely Nate Berkus designed townhouse – or, just maybe, take a look-see!

The Post reported last week that Anderson Cooper has purchased a Firehouse listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Not to reveal said location, but yours truly does know the area and let’s just say – it is two doors down from my first official address in NYC. Damn! Where was A.C. when I was trekking my boney ass up and down West 3rd Street? (Whoops) It plagues me to wonder if we would have shared the same membership at the nearby NY Sports Club. Or perhaps run into each other at Citarella or Jefferson Market, whilst shopping for Perrier and fresh produce. Ah me. Just to wonder!

In other news:

Watching the Grammys last night, I couldn’t help but think … really? Is this the state of our generation’s music? While I do reside in the church of Gaga, I do not find myself entranced by the sugar sweet sunshine that is Taylor Swift. I do understand the appeal. Her music is cute, she’s a precocious young thing, very cute and talented. But the fact that she is scoring all of these awards over the likes of Lady Gaga, Kings of Leon, Beyonce and a posthumous Michael Jackson is beyond me. Since when did anyone beat out a absolute music legend with lyrics like…

“But she wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts/She's Cheer Captain and I'm on the bleachers

Well, I must admit it is catchy! And when I am waxing nostalgic for my old blue Taurus (Lucille), Kate and Leo and my younger years, I just may turn my Pandora station over to Taylor and her anxious teenage lyrics. I will say one thing! My interest is peaked to see where her career goes from here.

MY Song of the Day: “Way Out” Yeah Yeah Yeahs or “Perfect Situation” Weezer

Lisiting/Neighborhood OF THE DAY: 239 Park Avenue South. One bed with Terrace!! Steps from Gramercy Park!!
